Rancho BuenaVista:
"Horseback Riding: Mayan Trails"
"GET-UM-Up...Ride-um-Cowgirl"... Horseback riding at the Rancho Buenavista located on the
eastern side of Cozumel led by English speaking guides along a trail entrenched with ancient Mayan ruins.
Horses were well cared for, shiny manes, robust, well-fed & well trained (which I will later explain below).
Driven in a big white opened-air bus about 2 hours from Cozumel city, we arrived at the ranch. We were immediately given an orientation on how to correctly mount a horse, and mange the reins when riding. The lead guide ( Carlos?) selected each horse according to one's level of riding experience. As a self-proclaimed medium rider, I was given what I thought was the most beautiful horse brought out: " Chavis" a large tri-carmel & brown colored horse with beautiful statue! Led by the guide into the jungle along trails marked by a few scattered Mayan ruins, Gods, caves, and remnants of other ancient archaeological finds.

LESSONS TO LEARN FROM A HORSE:On Fleet!
Horse R-E-S-P-E-C-T:
I paid attention to how the horses respected each other in formation., i.e. the horse in front of him would stop abruptly and back up..my horse waited for the front horse to either step back, urinate, or switch his tail...Despite my attempts to guide him ahead pass the other horses.
I was impressed with the order of control among them.

- Peeking order, chain of command, or just plain on follow the leader discipline!
- Ride with a purpose to please its rider
- Mindful of avoiding uneven rocks/formation, crevices, and wet puddle
- Receptive to hugs and strokes (wags tail as a sign of caress)
- Stay the course, dismiss obstacles along the path!
